Frequently Asked Questions

How much does LVP flooring installation cost?

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) installation typically costs $3–$7 per square foot for labor, plus $2–$5 per square foot for materials. A typical 200 sq ft room costs $1,000–$2,400 total. MC Pro Builders provides flat-rate quotes that include installation, transitions, and cleanup.

Can LVP flooring be installed over existing tile?

Yes — LVP can be installed directly over existing tile, concrete, hardwood, and most flat subfloors. The surface must be clean, dry, and level (within 3/16" per 10 feet). Cracked or uneven tile may need a self-leveling compound first. This saves the cost of removing old flooring.

How long does LVP flooring last?

Quality LVP flooring lasts 15–25 years with normal residential use. The wear layer thickness determines durability: 12 mil is good for bedrooms, 20 mil for living areas, and 28+ mil for commercial or high-traffic zones. LVP is waterproof, scratch-resistant, and easier to maintain than hardwood.

What's the difference between LVP and laminate flooring?

LVP (luxury vinyl plank) is 100% waterproof and made from PVC vinyl — safe for kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. Laminate is a fiberboard core with a printed image layer that can swell and warp when exposed to moisture. LVP also feels softer underfoot and is quieter to walk on.

How long does flooring installation take?

Professional LVP flooring installation takes 1–2 days for a typical room (150–300 sq ft). Hardwood installation takes 2–4 days due to acclimation time and more precise cutting. Whole-house flooring (1,000+ sq ft) takes 3–5 days. We move furniture and handle all prep work.
